Buckingham County Jail Mugshots
For a Buckingham County arrest, the local jail route is Piedmont Regional Jail. The official PRJ Offender Lookup embeds JailTracker and searches for people incarcerated at PRJ under PRJ custody. The research confirmed that the JailTracker app model supports offender image fields, including OffenderImage, LargerImage, Image, ImageBase, ImagePath, and image size fields. It also contains a configuration field named HideInmateImageUnlessLoggedOn.
The official PRJ offender lookup page is also the first public place to check for a current-custody profile image.
If the public profile does not show a photo, use the records-request routes instead of unofficial mugshot sites.
Those fields prove that the roster application can support booking or offender images. They do not prove that every public profile shows a mugshot. PRJ's current public roster view could hide photos for some people, hide them after release, require a different view, or omit them under agency policy. Use cautious wording: the roster may show a booking photo when PRJ makes it public.
Buckingham Booking Photo Limits
Virginia official sources reviewed for this project did not provide a simple rule that every booking photo must be published online. A booking photograph can be an agency record created during arrest or booking processing, but release depends on the custodian, Virginia FOIA, criminal-history restrictions, investigative exemptions, juvenile rules, victim privacy, sealing, expungement, and agency policy.
Important: PRJ's roster application supports offender images, but public photo display is not guaranteed for every Buckingham County booking.
Do not rely on commercial mugshot-publishing sites or pay-to-remove sites as a source for official Buckingham County jail mugshots. Official routes are the PRJ roster, PRJ records contacts, Buckingham County FOIA for county-held records, court records for case status, and VADOC for state-prison custody.
Find Buckingham County Booking Photos
The fastest route is the public custody search, but it is only one step. When no photo appears, use the agency-record route rather than assuming no booking photo exists. The correct custodian may be PRJ, Buckingham Sheriff's Office, a court clerk, VADOC, a federal agency, or ICE depending on the case and custody stage.
- Search the PRJ Offender Lookup for the person's current jail custody profile.
- Open the matching result and check whether the public profile displays an image.
- If no image appears, call PRJ at (434) 392-1601 and ask about records routing or Records ext. 732.
- Use PRJ FOIA contacts or Buckingham County FOIA when the photo is an existing public record held by that office.
- Check VADOC for sentenced state custody, BOP for sentenced federal custody, and ICE ODLS for immigration custody, while remembering those systems are not local mugshot galleries.
Buckingham Mugshot Record Fields
Booking photos are often only one field in a broader custody record. A PRJ JailTracker result may place an image beside charge, bond, hold, court, warrant, arresting agency, and booking information if those fields are enabled in the public view. That context matters because a photo without the current case status can mislead readers.
| Field | What the PRJ app model supports |
|---|---|
| Image | OffenderImage, LargerImage, ImagePath, ImageBase, width, height, and hide-image configuration fields |
| Identity | First, middle, and last name fields |
| Booking | Original booking date/time and possible booking or jacket identifiers |
| Charges | Charge description, arrest code, offense date, arrest date, counts, and charge status |
| Bond | Bond amount, bond type, fine amount, and bond-field display settings |
| Court and warrant | Case number, warrant number, court name, court type, and court date/time fields |
| Holds and release | Hold type, reason, dates, expiration, and final release date/time |
Virginia Mugshot Law Context
Code of Virginia Section 19.2-390 requires reports to the Central Criminal Records Exchange for reportable arrests and includes fingerprints and photographs taken by the law-enforcement officer or agency. Virginia FOIA, Title 2.2, Chapter 37, governs public-record access to existing records held by public bodies, subject to exemptions.
That legal context supports a records-request route, not an online publication guarantee. A custodian can review whether the requested booking photo is public, exempt, sealed, related to a juvenile, connected to an ongoing investigation, or restricted for another reason. If a request is denied or narrowed, ask the custodian for the legal basis and whether another office holds the record.
Note: A public mugshot is not proof of guilt. Court records must be checked for charge status and disposition.
Request Buckingham Booking Photos
Start with the office that most likely holds the record. PRJ holds jail custody and booking records for people committed to the regional jail. Buckingham Sheriff's Office may hold arresting-agency records. Buckingham County FOIA handles county-held public records. Court clerks handle court files, but a court file may not contain a booking photo.

Buckingham County says a FOIA request may be made by U.S. Mail, fax, email, in person, or phone. The request does not need to use special FOIA language, but it must identify existing records with reasonable specificity. The county may require the requester's name and legal address and must respond within five working days after receiving the request.
Released Buckingham Mugshots
PRJ did not publish a clear rule for how long a booking photo remains visible after release. A photo may disappear from the public roster when a person is released, transferred, hidden by configuration, or no longer in current PRJ custody. That does not automatically answer whether the underlying record exists or whether it is public on request.
For a released person, use the person's name, booking date, arresting agency, case number, warrant number, or court date from any record already found. Search Virginia court records for disposition. Then ask the proper custodian about a booking photo or jail record copy. If the person moved to VADOC, state-prison photo and profile rules are VADOC rules, not PRJ rules.
Release also changes context. A current jail mugshot can be tied to a pending custody event, while an older photo may sit in a law-enforcement or jail file that is subject to request review. If the case was dismissed, amended, or resolved by nolle prosequi, the court record should be checked before anyone treats the photo as a current charge or conviction record.
Buckingham Mugshot Removal and Expungement
No official Buckingham or PRJ page reviewed for this project promised automatic booking-photo removal after release, dismissal, acquittal, or expungement. Virginia expungement under Code of Virginia Section 19.2-392.2 is a court process for qualifying police and court records. It is not a public roster button or a private-site takedown form.
| Situation | Practical route |
|---|---|
| Current PRJ photo visible | Verify custody and charge status with PRJ and court records |
| No public photo on roster | Ask PRJ or county FOIA whether an existing record can be released |
| Dismissed or nolle prosequi case | Review court disposition and ask a lawyer or clerk about expungement eligibility |
| Third-party reposting | Rely on official records and legal process; do not treat pay-to-remove sites as official |
State and Federal Mugshot Differences
State prison custody in Buckingham County is searched through VADOC because Buckingham Correctional Center and Dillwyn Correctional Center are state prisons for sentenced VADOC inmates. The VADOC locator is the right place to check state custody and state ID information. VADOC profile and photo rules differ from PRJ jail roster rules.
Federal systems are different again. The BOP locator is for sentenced federal inmates or people in BOP custody, and ICE ODLS is for immigration detainee location. Federal agencies generally do not publish a simple public mugshot gallery for all detainees. PRJ may house U.S. Marshal offenders, but federal charges and federal custody records must be checked through the proper federal path.
For Buckingham County users, that means a photo search should not stop at a name match. Confirm whether the person is in PRJ custody, VADOC custody, federal custody, immigration custody, or only connected to a court case. The correct record holder controls whether a photo exists, whether it is public, and whether a copy can be released.
